Why are they called s'mores? Because you have s'more on your face. (Wipe it off, Tommy. Please.)

Our friend from the Peace Corps, Ally, gave us some marshmallows and chocolate a month ago, and finally, last weekend, she returned from traveling to make smores with us. I can proudly say that we did not eat any of these scrumptious Western delicacies until she returned, though at times Charlie's and my self-control waned at times (Wesley's sweet tooth is not nearly as strong as Charlie's and mine). The marshmallows were accompanied by Hershey's Symphony chocolate and some cookie-wafers from town. After all
was ate and done, Charlie and I felt a bit sick-but the good sort of sick.

OK Tommy - two questions - I am assuming that is a Colts hat on your head? AND let's talk about grammar..."after all was ate and done." I just couldn't let that one slide by - maybe you had toooooo many marshmallows and the sugar rushing through your system did something to your brain. (It made me laugh - i had to read more than twice because I thought I was misreading what had been written.)

Yes, those s'mores would've tasted good when we were there but I'm glad that you waited and "ate" them with Ally. I"m sure that you all enjoyed every last bite.

Liz--

I preferred "ate" to "eaten" because of the closer parallel to the expression, "all was said and done." A poetic consideration took precedence over a grammatical rule.

Now, you can question this ordering, but I thought I should at least offer you my explanation, Liz. In your favor, if I my attempt at style requires explaining, it probably doesn't justify being grammatically unsound.
